Education 

A good, sound educational system is the bedrock of a good, sound Democracy and a good, sound economy. This is being deliberately destroyed as we watch.  

 

My parents fought steep odds to get good educations for themselves and their children, and we were brought up to believe that education is the only way to a just, prosperous and civil society and a better life for all.

 

Here's what's happening in our country since January 20th, 2025:

 

• Dismantling of the federal Department of Education

• Defunding School Lunch programs and programs that help kids with challenges. 

• Leaving our public school teachers without basic resources to do their jobs in an already overburdened system. 

• Targeting, threatening, intimidating and defunding our independent higher educational institutions who refuse to bend the knee to the White House.

• Getting rid of foreign students and scholars in order to further isolate the American population. 

• Trying to "re-write" history, erase important historical events and personalities and kill science-based curricula to serve ideologies that have no place in a modern society. There are NO SUCH THINGS as "alternative facts". How can this be happening in the America that we all love? 

 

This is a leaf right out of a dictator's playbook. The damage that this has done and is going to do to our ability to compete in our global economy and manage our foreign relations is immeasurable and will not be easily fixed.

It seems apparent that the Republican Party believes that ignorance is the best policy. An uneducated population which is unable to think critically is more likely to accept lies, disinformation and policies harmful to our Democracy.

AND OUR REPRESENTATIVES SEEM TO BE JUST FINE WITH THIS. WE DESERVE BETTER! 

 

If I am elected to represent CD2, I will fight tooth and nail to protect and improve Education at all levels for all Nebraskans.
